MAKING OF THE “SPLIT-TABLE”. RESIDENCY IN CASA VASTO

Two-week-long artistic residency in VASTO Gallery's construction site, where she was invited one year ago by Mesura and VASTO to create a bespoke design piece.

  • The artist Sara Regal is a designer with a specialization in material exploration and the application of sustainable practices to objects and spaces. Her creative process is deeply rooted in an experimental approach to materials and production techniques, and she places a strong emphasis on staying attuned to the ever-evolving chromatic trends in design. Her work delves into the remnants of construction sites and seeks to breathe new life into these raw materials. Sara’s practice is fueled by a determination to challenge conventions, a genuine sense of intrigue and simple fun.

As the development of VASTO took shape and amidst the bustling chaos of construction, it became evident that this artist had the potential to craft the very first piece for VASTO. Sara's vision harmonized seamlessly with that of Mesura, the architects overseeing the project, and VASTO, an emerging art and design gallery transitioning from the digital world to a physical space.
  • During a two-week artistic residency at the construction site of VASTO Gallery, Sara embarked on a creative journey that culminated in the creation of a remarkable design piece known as "Split Table." This experiment shaped the layout of CASA VASTO for the first 8 months of the gallery.

Upon the completion of the "Split Table," all three collaborators realized the tremendous potential, the spark of inspiration, and a clear path forward to further Sara's explorations and investigations. Thus, "Mezcla, Moldea, Lija, Mueve" came into existence and began to take shape as the next exciting chapter in their creative journey.
